IFriday - Toy

These are a couple of pictures I painted last summerwhile attending the Low residency Illustration MFA program at The University of Hartford. They were painted digitally in Corel Painter. The goal is to paint on the computer using a traditional approach. The subjects are vintage Madame Alexander dolls. I was trying to give them each a little attitude without having them looking like Chuckie from those 80's slasher movies.
Painting a doll's portrait is fun- you don't have to worry about them getting bored or tired. They can be posed and reposed again and again and they don't complain if the picture doesn't make them look as attractive as they think they are.

These dolls are like alive with their own spirit worlds. Great art!
